On my apprenticeship a lad dropped two big heavy trays of dies... metric and imperial, much to the annoyance of our instructor.
My how we laughed as we spent 2 hours trying to get the bloody things sorted out back into the relevant tray and slot in the tray.

Now I think about it, it was the Fazer that had M10 plugs in the emissions test holes. The Falco spat one out, but BikeWise had a spare and fitted that for me while Debz' was buying her Tuono, so I don't actually know what size it is. I'll still say M10 though.

yes we still use the shadow graph, its a good bit of kit. The inspection department at work use it to check parts that have been manufactured in the machine shop. We will also have both thread gauges for the 2 suggested thread types. So the offer is still open if some want to send me one to measure. All I know is that the 1/8BSp plug is fitted in mine and is working a treat.

I may have just answered my own question...

£0.40 each, going down to £0.30 when bought in quantities of 50+... Do I detect a forum buy coming on...?

He gave me some very slightly tapered grub screws that he suggested I didn't overtighten so they wouldn't split the boss and use thread lock. That was about 6 years ago and they're still good.
Take the other one out and try to get a match at a proper plumbers merchants. Then buy a bunch as they'll probably cost 30p each

Just dredging up an old thread thread (groan), as I've stumbled across these in my travels:
http://www.pts-uk.com/Products/Pipe_Plu ... A2/A908G18
1/8" bsp socket plugs with collar in A2 stainless (you can get them in A4 stainless, but they're nearly twice the price). Minimum order of 50 though, which works out at £44 + VAT plus postage.
I'm also going into a hydraulics/pneumatics place tomorrow for something else, so I'll see what they have on the shelf. Originals are brass, I seem to recall.

Which is why it's called BSP - British Standard Pipe. BSPP for Parallel and BSPT for Taperblinkey501 wrote:Bsp is the standard thread for all standard british pipe fittings.

Are you absolutely, totally, completely sure of that? Cos the ones I took out today looked very much like brass. And you can't pick 'em up with a magnet...

Griff removed my plugs when tuning my engine. his allen type socket was twisted from a previous encounter with plug fitted to a header.
If it was brass the plug would have had the internals stripped out. That is why I believe they are steel.
I will ask griff what they are
