It's the National Hill Climb Championship - details and rounds are at www.nhca.co.uk

Be good to see anyone from the forum at any of the upcoming events. It's Curborough this weekend near Tamworth.

Went to Curborough yesterday, and met Ben, and his lovely lady Mel.

Ben set the fastest time in his group in the first run but it was stopped before he got to his second run.
Think he was still winning.
Mel also rode very well and was well up in her class, very smooth riding from her.
Checked the website today but no results on yet.

Ben says he will post up when he gets time, but it was very nice to meet both of them, and be welcomed in such a friendly way when they obviously were busy fettling and concentrating on the racing.

Thanks Ben and Mel, hope to meet you again sometime.

Great to meet you yesterday Falken - appreciate the support!

Got the second run in the end and went a tad faster still. So the Falco took the win!

We made it into the top ten run-off where I beat the supercharged TL1000 and took 6th overall. Not bad considering a supermoto is the perfect tool around there.

Hopefully see you at Shelsley in September.

Nice one Ben!

Interesting post - I just knew before even looking at the venues that the Scarborough climbs would be listed - that I couldnt get to :smt013

Never mind - Harewood in Leeds is only 40 miles away - is this a good event?

Are you racing there Ben?

Best wishes for the series - Frank

Hi Frank,

yes, the Falco and I will be at Harewood in August. It's a track with a good reputation - although I've not been there myself. I'm looking foward to it though. I'm hoping the Falco will go well there!

If you can make it, be sure to pop into the pits and say hello.

I've been living up here 8 years and travel to York via Harewood often and managed to see the course from the car a few weeks ago as there was a meet on otherwise would never have known it was there

Just looked at my shift pattern & I'm off for the HArewood house event on the 29th Aug !!!!

BUT

Just looked at the website:

www.harewood.org

and there's NO mention of a hill climb on the 29th ?????

Oh yes - I think there is a photo of Ben on the online edition of Motorcycling Monthly (hope this works):

Cheers - Frank

yeah there was an article in the printed edition of motorcycle monthly as well

had a good read when i was eating my eggs, beans and chips at the hawes cafe :)

then went back to the bike and some old guy in a beige jacket (its compulsory up here for old guys to wear beige, don't know about down south) was blatantly eyeing up the pride and joy as I walked back

was a good moment :)

gotta love the falco

29th of august will try to be there if i can swing it with the mrs - so close it would be rude not to :smt002

** look for the TINY to & from links **

Public entry appears to be £10 (free for under 14's) and it mentions Practise from 9am with Racing around 12.30

Harewood was interesting...

I had a tumble in the chicane on one run - due to oil on the rear tyre - but came back to get second in the 1300 class. Great hill though, very long and technically fun!

Shelsley Walsh last weekend was a good outing for the Falco though. 1st in the 1300 class with 5th overall - beating a couple of those pesky 500cc two-stroke supermotos.

The Falclimber (my stripped down Falco for next year) is coming along too - so far it's down to 162kg with no fuel, so am hoping to get it under 170kg ready to race. That's 50kg less than the standard machine with a full tank of fuel. Can't wait!

The last round of the season is at Hartland Quay in North Devon, so if anybody is interested in coming along to say hi, then it's the weekend after the forum bash - Sunday 3rd October.

Just one wheel and one pot then? :smt003

Two pots and two wheels, but only one front disc and one front caliper!

Image

Here it is mostly stripped. Just number boards, some hacking of the seat subframe, a seat fairing, 520 chain conversion, OZ wheels (in the other bike at the mo), a radiator to remove and a sprag clutch to replace (the reason why the side cover is off) and it's almost there.
