Lots of people on here have done it and nobody has ever mentioned excess wear or snapped chains.
Yep - nicely said Howard

I'm guessing the dealer really didn't understand the issue properly.
If so he would have understood that the sprocket wear would have been the same by increasing the rear to achieve the same ratio.

That said, there have been a few reports of snapped chains but I fail to see how that would be down to a 15t sprocket and nobody has even suggested a link between those that have snapped ant the sprockets used (may have all been 16t for all I know).

I've run a 15t sprocket for most of the life of my bike and changed the chain and sprockets at over 16k miles. I'm sure the distance would have been even greater had I not run the first 4k miles without a scotoiler.

If your worried about chain clearance on the swingarm then you'd faint at the clearance around a 17t sprocket. Bit of chainslap and goodbye crankcases.

I have one on my road bike but i have 2 spare engines :smt002

Race 125's have down to 13t (or was it 11 hmm) fronts and their chains last ohhhhhhhh, 300 miles easy.

Nah - I just like doing things the different/difficult way... The only reason I went for 17T front was because that's standard on the RSV, and if Aprilia fit it as standard then there can't be too many issues - can there?

But I'm good at keeping my chain adjusted, honest. Besides, I've already shelled out on a 17T/46T Supersprox combo, so it has to work... :smt003

Dont get me wrong, I have 17t on my road bike and its given me 0 problems. Mind you, it runs out of steam at 166 and its not even near the redline, pathetic :smt003
