pass it on to the police - as in you cannot use a vehicle due to their neglect, therefore they must provide you with a hire vehicle....
when local plod jumped as red light and wrote off our 3 week old volvo they ended up doing that... case was sorted very bloody fast afterwards... like 4 days!

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

hmmm
as they are at fault, remind your insurance company you need transport - or will they compensate for loss of earnings....
and remind them who was at fault and ask them to clarify that they are acting in your best interests,,,,

Why are they holding the camera anyway?
Is it for some anti terrorism reason?
Were you photographing the soon to be obsolete Trident missile subs, whilst you were up there?
Or did you just manage to get a picture of them damaging your bike, that could be incriminating?

Hope you get this all sorted soon, and get a closure on the issue, so you can really start to get over it.

You could also write to the Chief Constable and ask him why it is taking so long and what he is going to do about it. The Chief is duty bound to reply to you in a timely fashion (normally fourteen days)
You could also remind him that you may be of a mind to complain to the Independant Police Complaints Commission about their conduct in this matter; that might make them sit up and pay attention and get their thumbs out of their proverbial .....
You could also threaten them with the media, your MP etc .... but that might be counter-productive.
Just food for thought

Thanks for all your advice, I would obviously love to get this situation resolved and get out on my other Falco, but I get this sense of guilt ringing up and having to explain all the bloody details again after what has happened.
What Really annoys me is the fact that you are presumed guilty until proved innocent with insurance company's.
God only knows what has happened to my camera.
And the other fact is Sid my mate who died was an armed diplomatic protection police officer.

Had a call from my insurer today and the Scottish police have now sent a letter stating that there is a fault with Falco side stands, they have stated that they put the side stand down on level ground but the bikes side stand leans the bike over too far, so the bike was at fault and not the officer who moved the bike.
A falco side stand that leans the bike too far
.
Do you think they are correct in what they are saying lol may need evidence from you guys

OK we'd all agree the side stand is far from perfect but even before we change them for better ones, Falcos and other Aprilias don't fall over every day - we just take a bit of care.
If it's not stable you realise that as you set it down on the stand and move it to where it is stable .... it's common sense.
Unless there was a specific issue with this stand being damaged (which I doubt), then the stand is as supplied by Aprilia and deemed fit for purpose.
They are really taking the piss - they have not exercised due care.
What would their attitude be if it was you that parked the bike like that and it fell onto a small child? The fault is entirely due to the stand? Of course they wouldn't - you'd be to blame for not taking due care in how you operated it.
Their attempt to wriggle out of this is disgraceful.
