You're right Andy, remember that wet afternoon meet at Newark back in March 2007, Ian's is the one on the far right with the blue flames -D-Rider wrote:Yeah - Hornetrider has one - search the pics on the forum
There were literally 3 or 4 made - it was an official colour (oasis green) and the story goes that Aprila brought them to the show in the UK and they stayed here. Aprilia then decided not to produce that colour.
I saw one at Mallory once - it was before Hornetrider got his. I don't think it was the same one as it didn't have the fighter cans .... although they could have been added after I saw it.
Here's a link to the various colour schemes FALCO COLOURS
The ones shown as 2002 colours were not imported here - they were USA and I think Australia too .... however a few arrived - I think it's Fastasfcuk that has a Hot Red / Diablo Black one

You might also recognise the one on the left!
This is another view of Ian's from the front, one difference between this and the Flamingo version is the extra black on the front fairing, see pics, Ian's is on the left this time -

Flamingo version next -

Whose was this bike, I've forgotten?

Sorry for hijacking the thread Mango, but the Newark Pics and the one above of HornetRiders bike, does show all the later colours that you might find, also covers another point you brought up earlier about the different forks, that I had not noticed until I looked at these photos again.
The early Falcos are all on black Showa forks, Andy's bronze bike, like every brionze one I've ever seen is on gold Marzocchies, then it gets confused with Ians Hot Red/Diablo unit also on Marzocchies but the late model Flamingo red back on black Showas!

.... except you can't tell the fork manufacturer by the colour ....
There are both Gold and Black Marzocchies (many Flamingo ones had black Marzocchies for example)
There also have been both gold and black showas
The change from Showa to Marzocchi happened during the production of the Bronze and Flamingo colours - so (unless I've remembered wrongly) you will find some of these on each brand.
You can differentiate them by the pre-load adjusters. The Showas screw in and out of the top of the forks, the Marzocchis adjustment is contained within and the adjusters just look like they are going round and round.

Thanks chaps - lots of good information there. Hornetrider's Falco is certainly different; I've seen quite a few Falcos but none like that. It looks great.
No probs about hijacking the thread, Howard, I'm getting bored with thinking about it now (the disappointment etc.) Onward and upward. I'll find one that's right sooner or later (hopefully sooner).
But it has thrown a spanner into my plans. I was intending to take my trusty old VFR (celebrating its 20th birthday this year) down to the South of France to start a new life (I have a restoration project/moneypit down there) and have a Falco for general use. Except now I don't. And if I take the VFR to the S of F, I don't have a bike to use in the UK...
Thanks for the fork pics D-Rider. I now feel confident in my ability to distinguish Marzocchi and Showa forks!

Don't feel too jealous - it always pisses with rain when Falcos get together.
Here are a couple of previous reports to prove the point (including the one from which Howard posted those pics)

A few of us got to the Club Aprilia National day a few weeks ago but it's about time we did something else.
Next real opportunity is the weekend at the end of August in Norfolk for the whole forum. It would be nice if we had a good turn out of Falcos.
I'm hoping to go (to some of it at least) and I believe Gio will be there on a Falco ..... so come on the rest of you ....

Mango, if you're still looking there's a 2004 red/black (with black frame) at Alford Bros in Folkestone for 3,499. Saw it last weekend and it's in lovely nick, plus also has the Aprilia carbon cans.
I've just bought my own first Falco (2005 bronze/black with blue flame carbon cans - road legal, honest guv!) and took it down to Northern France for a spin last weekend. I was very interested in the Alford Bros one until the one I bought turned up.
Absolutely loved the blast round France and can see why people fall in love with the Falco. Would definitely agree about the sidestand and already have one on order from Bubseywoo. To my embarassment I have to admit that the reason we were in Alfords was to pick up a new brake lever for my wife's GSX600 at 9.00 on the Staurday morning (trying to get the 9.55 ferry) because I dropped my Falco off its stand the previous evening and did a wonderful domino topple straight into my wife, who was not impressed! Fortunately Alford Bros were very helpful, opened the shop early, had a lever in stock, fitted it and had us back on the road for a swift blast back to Dover in time for the ferry.
If you have a look on their website I think you'll find pics and details of it. Tried to tempt the wife to make it a his and hers kind of thing, but she's happy with the GSX for the moment!
Hope you find something soon.

Hi JCB69, thanks for the heads-up, I'll check that one out. At this rate I'll be travelling the length and breadth of the land to get one! I can't really do anything this weekend as I'm oncall and have to stay close to base. But next weekend, maybe...
I have to say that France is God's own country for riding a bike. I can hardly wait to point a Falco down this piece of road in Southern France:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab ... fies%20d15
It's only about 3 or 4 miles long, but it's mental; it has a race-track quality surface and they periodically run hill climbs/sprints on it. There are also lots of other excellent roads nearby.

There's a couple that look intresting on Bike Trader within 50 to 70 mile range.
One at Orrells M/C near Wigan - 2004, with Remus cans and 6k miles at £3,999
http://www.motorcyclecentreorrell.co.uk ... vertID=562
and what looks like an even better one at Fastrack Motorcycles near Leicester,
http://www.fasttrackmotorcycles.co.uk/sales.asp
this is another 2004 with an Ohlins rear shock and alarm/imob, price is £3450 ovno, so certainly worth a look at that price, and it's nearer than Scotland!
