Presumably you are talking about your trackbike here Pierre?Pierre wrote:I havent bought a new set of tyres in 3 years now, just race castoffs. £50 for tyres with 40 miles wear on the edge and brandnew in the middle so i can square them off and still look cool
Race tyres take too long to warm up (if ever) for regular road use. At least that's what I have always been led to believe.

Hehehehe...a bargain. good tyres, heaps of tread....and no chicken strips......so you have street cred when you park it!Pierre wrote:I havent bought a new set of tyres in 3 years now, just race castoffs. £50 for tyres with 40 miles wear on the edge and brandnew in the middle so i can square them off and still look cool
Metzler racetecs Fausto, road legal. Mates sponsor pays £220ish a pair and he uses them for 20 laps. I stick them on the trackbike and do 2 or 3 td's then stick them on the road bike, as the middle is still 4mm+ (i've got loads(3) of fronts spare now)
Youre probably right about never getting up to the correct temp although they do get warm, but I'm a much slower rider on the road now I get rid of the aggression on the track. Infact i've probably halved my speed
Anyway, they're less dangerous than running either 15 or 74 psi in a normal tyre which i've done
edit: and the newsies at the end of the street, even im not that lazy
