re changing the rear shock
For some people , the standard one is ok, if properly set. HOWEVER, many of us think it is crap - or at the least the second weakest thing on the falco - weakest being the sidestand of course, though Nicholas from RSVR.Net remains convinced it is fine once you have had your suspension set up - may well be worthwhile getting the bikes suspension set up professionally? As Hisnibbs said, the front end has a lot of adjustment in it... and wave Keith, how was your head on Sunday?
Many people replace the rear shock with a Mille unit - as DRider said, the white spring is pretty interchangeable, while the Yellow Ohlins Mille does need the right linkages. Alternatively you can pick up an aftermarket one for a lot of money, or careful ebay shopping
I don't know if others here would agree, but I would suggest that you get the bike set up correctly - and that includes tyre pressure btw - ignore what it says in the Falco handbook and ask the tyre manufacturer and get the suspension set up by an expert - then decide if anything needs changing, then you can start looking around
Oh - if you are going to start playing around with the rear suspension, I swear by my ABBA stand .....

Z6 = very good all year tyre, plenty of grip in the dry and in the wet, last a good while as well, normal road riding should see you ok for 6000 miles at least unless you're really heavy with the throttle.
Z3 = spending a lot of time wondering why the two wheels always want to go in different directions. Not good.

I am the recent (8 weeks) proud owner of a standard 2001 Falco in red. Due to work commitments and the Great British summer I've not done as many miles as I would like. Still of to the Alps for a weeks bonding with it in a month. Which leads me to the first of my questions.
1. What the hell can I do about the side stand in the UK finding a level road is bad but in the mountains no chance. I've fitted R&G's as I think it's not a case of if but when it falls of the stand![]()
2. What is generally considered in everyone's humble opinion to be the best tyres for a Falco.
3. Is it quite straight forward to fit a 04 Mille swingarm, ohlins shock and linkage because the standard shock is poo.![]()
4. Does any one make a Belly pan and is it any good.
Many thanks!!!!!!!!
1. Have modded shortened and fitted a 2001 GSXR 600 stand. Bike now very stable.
2. After 3500 miles the MEZ4's have load's left in them. Only had a couple of slides when gassing it hard out of tight hair pins.

3. Had a yellow sachs shock fitted and the bike set up by Sean at Corse performance what a top bloke!!!
4. Haven't done this yet but like the one on RSVR.net. If anyone is selling a belly pan or a set of oval road legal cans I could be interested.

Dip me in Castrol R and throw me to the Two strokes!!!!!!!!!
