Drill a new hole for the switch and that's it. I have one and it works well.

However, I'd go with the advice to get the other bits sorted first. The stand is an absolute must and then get rid of the standard cans :)

Thanks Katie

Standard cans would definitely go, YAK, what would I look to pay for the Ohlins ?, on reading the forum I have a list a mile long me thinks.....

mangocrazy wrote:Yes, if you've got a yellow springs Sachs on the bike, then I'd attend to the other items first. As Katie and other have said, change that stand first. Options are as follow:

Honda Fireplace (bolts straight on)
Honda Blackbird (needs slight modification and works better with raised rear ride height)
Suzuki GSXR (quite a bit of modification in my experience, but works well)
Bubseywoo (don't laugh, I'm serious...)
USA-model Falco sidestand (spendy new and hard to get hold of secondhand)
Honda Firestorm (don't know how much work needed)

There may well be others. To be honest, pretty much anything can be made to fit if you have basic engineering facilities.
Thanks again Mango

Not sure which stand it has on at the mo, as not seen the photos, still grooming the seller. Lol. Hopefully it has the fireplace on already.

Sounds very much like the Blackbird stand in that case, as that's all that is needed for the BB.

Thanks Gio

I've not heard of the Hyperpro, I'll put some research into that
If you like the sounds of the hyperpro they will ask for which bike and your weight as well so they set up a base figure on it. I didn't do that as I had James at Setup do it for me (no longer there), cheap it won'be in 2004 I spent just over £1000 on front and rear, but oh my god what a dfference, like going from a ford anglia to a rolls royce.
I hate it when people ask if you have a bathroom, I want to say "No we pee in the garden"

The main reason so many people go for Ohlins shocks is that there's a ready supply of them from early RSV Milles, and because of the (comparative) availability of them, prices aren't ridiculous. You'll probably pay around £250-300 for a decent one that's had a recent service, less for one that's had a hard life. You're probably best waiting for one in good nick to show up, as refurbishing one that (for example) has had salt damage is not cheap.

If you were looking to buy a new Ohlins of the same spec from Harris or Kais, they'd cost well north of £800.

Trying to keep things in perspective here...
Buy Falco, see what needs replacing, buy bling accordingly.
I bought a Blackbird stand and fitted it but it did not work with the white spring Saggs shock I had at the time, way too upright.
Then this splendid chap called Mango sent me a message re an Ohlins he had coming up for sale, the adjustable ride height on the shock made the Blackbird stand perfect for the new set up :smt002
Stop, look, think and don't be a brand whore cos you think you need to be one, hope that makes sense and does not offend

For what it's worth, I've been trying to find someone to refurbish my Maxton rear shock for ages and it's been a nightmare. It appears Maxton do not allow other people to buy their service kits, as everywhere I inquire to says they can't do it.

Last time I checked with Maxton the lead time was nearly 2 months. The shock is sat on my desk at work, it will be going to Maxton as soon as they tell me how far I need to bend over for the privilege.

Just something to bear in mind if ever buying a Maxton shock/ a bike with one already in it (like I did)....

Quite a cynical move, that. Build your own (expensive) shock with entirely bespoke components, then don't sell spares (but don't mention this in your sales brochures). Result - customers locked in for life.

Mind you, once anyone has pulled this stunt on you once, you won't let it happen again.

I reckon you'd be well advised to get it off to them now. Before long lots of people will wake up from their post-Christmas and New Year haze and start thinking about stuff that needs to be done before they can get the bike back on the road. You don't want to be stucjk in a queue behind them...

Had a bit of an email exchange with Maxton today. At least their lead time is down to 2-3 weeks now...

So i don't hijack this thread any more..https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.php?p=135156

I've seen a couple on eBay for around £280, still uncertain on what to do though to be honest.... :smt017

I like perspective.... Sounds sensible to me, not so much of a brand whore, just like to do my research before I jump in and if the Ohlins gave the best performance combined with value then that's the way to go for me, thanks for the advice tho appreciate it :smt007
