No not just aprilia tanks. Apparently there are big problems with Ducattis
Steel tanks can be prone to rusting due to water separation.

Bet a lot of others suffer too

..... not to mention the problems with older fuel lines and carb seals etc ... both cars and bikes

minor derail.. mine's been low on fuel for 2 weeks (light on) and the tank actually went up and down easier than it has of late. wonder if thats due to the weather being cooler or the fact the tank has had a chance to vent off with the reduced fuel in the tank..

Been there, done that - still not enough clearance

F-ing F-a-nol

Time for Will to start fabricating bracketry with longer holes...

I shall knock up a one off bracket for mine, but i reckon a bracket for RSV and Falco would be simple to produce and market..

No - it's beyond that - holes in brackets front and rear taken out as far as possible - you can only go so far at the back due to the seat.

To be fair, Aprilia does call for all fuel lines to be replaced regularly (I think it's either every 3 or 4 years in the workshop manual).
Doubt that many bother with this.

Hmm.. had a look at mine and can fabricate a bracket to give me at least another 8 - 10mm of clearance before it affects my battery tray and seat

Seems these guys would disagree about line degradation from a percentage of ethanol.. the tank swelling is.. undeniable but the lines.. i dont see that there's a problem if theyre changed at least once a decade.. doffing the cap to the manufacturer's replacement regime at least a little bit..

Nice bit of spin for the ethanol industry there; wonder if the authors worked for Blair & Mandelson?

But I take the point about the recommendation for replacing hoses regularly.

There was a forum report of a US owner, reported on the FB K75/100 page, about a bike going up in flames - blamed on an injector o-ring failing due to ethanol; trying to get the forum link.

For all the best intentions that a petition or Trading Standards visit would be arranged with, ultimately the oil companies don't give a rat's ass about it, so will do nothing. Same with the government, because they're all in the oil companies' pockets :-/

Not sure it's come from the oil companies anyway. Isn't it all part of the misguided political "green credentials" stuff?

Whats the issue? Ethanol in fuel expanding the tank? First I've heard of this...
