Too sticky or not to sticky

hey guy's, a bit late in the day as i'm off to get a new front tyre tommorow but i have a bridgestone 021 on the rear with plenty of life in it and i wonder if i should get a 021 for the front to match ( it's a 020 thats on at the moment) or should i go for a stickier bt 014 or 016 (cant remember which is the correct one) the reason i ask is, a mate once said it's better to have a sticky on the front but the guy at the tyre shop said that was a bad combo.
I did a quick search but didn't come up with anything.
what do you think guys?
The tyre guy offered me a pair of continentals £155 fitted but he didn't say what kind and i like me bridgestone's

I can't compare Bridgestone to Conti on a Falco but I do know Conti's are a good allround tyre and the price you've been quoted for the pair, would buy only a rear Michelean.

Thanks HissNibbs, thats okay :smt001 i'll probably just go for the 021 and keep it all matched, The tyre guy said conti's were good and he had a promotional offer for them and thats why he could offer that good price, i'll stick with what i'm used too though. The falco needs an mot shortly and needs a new front so i'll go with the 021 and see if i can get a 90 degree valve fitted while it's there :smt001

I think the idea that the more sticky tyre on the front gives you more grip on the wheel that's less easy to control if it slides.

My current record for controling back end slides is about 70% and 20% for front slides an dmost of those were pure luck.

Also you're more likely to wear out the rear than the front, so getting a softer tyre that will wear quicker should bring it nearer to the life of the rear.

I changed my rear before christmas to a Conti sportmax, a touring tyre, that is lasting well and grips plenty for me. My front is overdue for replacement now, so I'm going to get a Conti sport attack 2 on the front, it's pretty soft and my thoughts are that it should wear out about the same time as the rear.

Some don't but i rate the bridgestones. I have BT021s and no issues :smt002

Thanks for the replys guy's, went with the 021 in the end so at least my tyres are legal cant say the same for the zorsts lol

Talking about tyres. It is legal to have a different brand of tyre fitted to the bike isn't it. :smt017
Ie michelin on the front and pirelli on the back?

i think that on a car you must have the same type of tyre on each axle - i.e. radial remould or what ever....

afaik there is no rule about makes/brands


Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I've ridden about every tire out there, the Conti road attacks are a really good tire. I've used the Bridgestones( several models) I really like the standard Pirelli Diablo. I think it depends on the type of riging you do. I change tires often so sticky works for me. I ride pretty aggresive though. I like the feeling of trusting my tires. I just changed out my pirelli diablos, for Shinko stealth soft compounds. with all the mods, I found the 180 diablo breaking loose exiting corners since upgrading to open airbox,and other mods a plenty, and tuning it pretty well. It would be nice to be able to test tires, to find what you like most, but it gets expensive...having a softer compound tire on the front won't hurt anything! it's best to just find a set that makes you feel confident that they will hold in a tight spot!

Brand has nothing to do with illegality, however construction does.
Cars share the same law as Trikes,
