engine strip down

#1 Post by roosterNI » Thu May 03, 2012 5:53 pm

ok so its been a while since i've been begging for help, but.... had the falco at a trackday on tues, everything was fine, bike preformed outstanding, until..... 6th gear kinda give up. it feels to me that its stripped teeth from the cogs. so the advise i'm looking is this. i've got the engine sitting on the bench, is there any special tools i need, such as flywheel puller or timing pins to split the engine? any tips or tricks i should know before splitting? and i know its been put up a hundread times but weres the technical manual downloads at???

also while i'm there is there any benefit in mille heads/cams?

:smt013 I only posted this up in another thread on here this afternoon!
The workshop manual can be downloaded from Martin Poll's website (get the OCR one as that is searchable)

Yes except on the very earliest Mille motors, bigger valves and different cam timing
Gen II ones even moreso

Yes - though I guess it'll probably be a bit more top-endy than the Falco - depends on the characteristic you want

Not quite.
The biggest difference is that the gear-change works back to front. Can't remember about ratios.
Probably all in the engine manual on Martin Poll's site.
If you don't know where to look for it, try here:
