my falco did not charge well , on inspection the brown connector had been getting HOT and the round connector (engine end) that was not happy. on my machine the wires did not look very well crimped, i soldered all of them, it was better but not that good . i did the wiring mod , all good 5000 mls no over charging battery no probs at all

Ermmm - not quite. A 12 v battery will need the same volts to charge irrespective of its capacity. It will need more amps but not volts.

I had those volts but soldering the crimps and subjecting the pins/sockets to a healthy dose of switch cleaner got the volts back to where they should be hence my opinion that its got nothing to do with the gauge of wire used (the most common thought stateside) but more to do with the connectors being pushed close to their limit.
