54mm throttle bodies

#1 Post by mangocrazy » Thu Nov 17, 2011 9:56 pm

Were any Aprilia (Rotax) V-twins ever produced with 54mm T/Bs as OE apart from the Edwards replica?

That's it, really...

Unless anyone has a set in good nick they want to part with, of course.

No - not even the Edwards rep. Aprilia never made 54s
One of the primary things people want on the Edwards is the correct throttle bodies. They came with 51mm TB's, but had 57mm TB's in the crate with different air box and EPROM.
Basically all 54s are bored out 51s. Some have been done better than others. The fit of the butterflies is crucial as is the modification of the air bypass.
Evo made/make some good ones - along with matching 54mm velocity stacks.

As greybeard said

They do come up but the hardest thing to source is the velocity stacks

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock
