overflow

#1 Post by blinkey501 » Thu Jul 28, 2011 5:25 pm

I noticed when i parked up last night when out and about, and when i got home that water spots were coming from an overflow pipe on side stand side of the bike. it was coming from the right hand side of the three pipes that were togeather. it was quite warm last night but i wouldnt think it was normal :smt017 . Any advice on this please :smt014

Taste the fluid - willing to bet it is water

If so you need to clear the water overflow from the tank - remove the saddle and raise the tank - now notice the pipe connecting near the fuel pump - it's the drain for the tank skin - disconnect it and then clean out the crud with a pipe cleaner - they do get blocked up with shite - I suspect it is fairly well blocked off and only occasionally is draining....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

And if it's a bit sweet you've likely got diabetes.

I'd be a bit cautious of tasting random fluids leaking from my bike

anti freeze is sweet and poisonous and i would not recomend drinking it, i am thinking of doing a coolant change and wondered which one would be best xylene glycol? or is there a better option.

and yes re the tasting comment - i did say taste and not drink though....
(But you should not even do that.... bet we all have!)

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

I was so kakfaced that I forgot to spit and not only swallowed but carried on drinking about half a pint of fuel when siphoning from one car to another to get to a club in Manchester everytime I breathed I got off on the fumes made smoking a bit tricky though.... Luckily I had learnt fire eating by then :smt010
