Much to my relief parts arrived Tuesday and bike sorted yesterday. My trip is back on. Sprag clutch was the problem. Thanks to Jim Allan Motorcycles in Falkirk.... :smt002

Just a thought do you hold in the clutch lever when starting if not i would recommend this in future it does help the sprag, falco's RSVs all have a tendency to eat them. Sprags are often damaged when a cold engine is given to much fuel and kicks back.
For this reason always use the cold start and leave the throttle alone.
If a falco floods clear it by holding the throttle wide open no blipping! hold in the clutch and spin the motor until it fires up. This action flows plenty of air through the motor clearing the unburnt fuel. :smt001

Spot on advice from Thumper (good to hear from you again mate) and I also use these techniques when staring my Falco whether the engine is hot or cold.
As a rule of thumb never touching the throttle until the engine has fired up seems to be the best method

Hi all,

Glad you got it sorted thumper :smt002 Yes, I always, always, hold in my clutch lever on start-up. Some choke when cold, never "Blip!" I wait till 48 degrees before I pull away.
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

HI falco9 good to see you are still around too, not riding as much as I used too mostly a warm weather ride into work only a daily commute of around 30 miles but just as well as all but one of my bikes have gone. This is my old banger its fun to ride and comfy if a little tempremental...
