Cutting Out
Got Falco out for a run - after about 15 miles stopped to admire the view. Later while stuck in town traffic and bike cut out. Restarted no problem then cut out after about 10 seconds. Kept doing this unless held throttle open slightly and fine when out of town.
When back home left bike running and it keeps cutting out - usually restarts no problem, but occasionally does the whole weak battery dash reset thing.
Dash says battery at 12v which increases to 13.7v when engine running.
Bike is 20K miles and 8 years old and still on original.
Any ideas what the problem is? Simple as new battery needed?

TBH you've done very well to have got 8+ years out of a battery. I'm not saying that's your problem but I'm sure that's the cause of your dash resets.
Other cut out causes can be such as sidetand sensors/ wiring/ kill switches/ etc getting a bit old and dodgy. Often a clean up or wire repair can sort it out.

Voltage readings are a bit low and are probably the reason for the dash resets, but not for the cutting out.
I'd be going along the lines of checking the throttle and idle cables for adjustment and properly tightened, go all the way from grip to throttle body. Also have a look at you butterfly's and make sure their scews are tight. I'm calling this on Falcoholics issue too.
Next, and harder to spot, I'd be looking at the rubbers around the FI system for perishing or splits. Then there's the slipper clutch valve. These could be letting in too much air at idle and causing the stall.

Had an issue 2 years ago although not that bad. She used to cough and nearly stall once every 100 miles or so, just enough to get you worried when in the middle of the Alps. Real bugger to find the cause but by an (expensive) process of elimination, I finally nailed it down to one of the 2 relays which are in the safety circuit. Replaced with new and have never had the issue again
