Falco for sale - unfortunately.

#1 Post by Falconihlist » Thu Feb 17, 2011 7:20 pm

Unfortunately the job is sending me abroad for a couple of years to a place where I can't take the Falco, so regrettably I am going to have to sell it. With any luck though, where I am going I can get one, and it will already have the US sidestand:)

I got the bike last year, and it wasn't in the best of conditions, but I have put alot of time and effort into getting it sorted out (with alot of help from the forum), so details and pics are below.

Date of registration April 2000
Last serviced by Tri County Motorcycles last November (Major service so all usual parts replaced)
Colour - Obviously the fastest
Mileage - 24508

Work done since I bought it:

New EBC front and rear discs
New EBC pads
Renthal sprockets standard teeth
DiD chain
R&G Crash bungs, bar ends, front spindle (second hand), Exhaust sliders
Aprilia clear lens indicators
Tail tidy
Gold wheels
Pirelli Diablo tyres (less than 1000 miles use)
Probolt engine bolt kit
Oberon fluid reservoirs (clutch, front and rear brake)
New fuel injector
OEM Clutch slave seal
HEL Braided hoses (front and rear brakes)
Showa forks replaced complete
ProBolt fork adjusters
Gold radiator and oil cooler mesh covers
OEM Lower fairing (new)
Motad venom exhaust cans (baffles fitted)
Probolt rear brake mounting bolts
Probolt front caliper bolts
New Brembo seals and pistons for front brake calipers
Smoked screen
Clear lens headlight cover
Titax adjustable levers (clutch and brake)
Front and rear brake microswitches replaced

The bad bits:

Previous owner used to park it up against a concrete pillar in a block of flats so the following is what I haven't dealt with:

Scratched headlight (on the lacquer) and it's also the euro one
Small crack on left display. (Intact and does not allow water in)
Cheap electric oiler fitted, but does not work
Left and right side of fairing has been touched up where it was left leaning against a wall.
Original shock still fitted, but seems to be working fine for me.
Left foot peg slightly bent, but secure. Was going to fit a set from Griff next month, but seems pointless now.
Lower strap buckle on tank bag is broken.
Needs a good polish!

I also have the following spares which will come with the bike:

Mille swing arm with new quadrant bearings (not fitted) requires one cotton reel retapping and a good polish. Was in the process of removing scratches. Comes with the chain guide and brake cable guide, pivot rod and bearings.SOLD

Öhlins shock with quadrant and dogbone (same as fitted to the bike so spares) SOLD
UK spec headlight with no damage or scratches
Carbon fibre front mudguard (unused, requires drilling)
Left and right Brembo calipers
Cush drive rubbers and sleeves
Exhaust collector and rear header
Rear pillion seat pad
Baglux tankbag
Brembo pistons and seals
Probolt engine bolts (gold)
OEM Mirrors (new)
Rear paddock stand

All thr previous faults I have posted on the forum have been fixed, and the bike is now running sweet:)

I have a paper mountain of receipts for everything since I have bought the bike, but I haven't transfered the Datatag info from the previous owner yet. Wheels and frame are marked and etched. Some of the parts aren't on the photos as they have only been put on in the last 2 weeks, and they were taken before the snow.

If anyone is interested, drop me a PM. I am looking for 2500, but reasonable offers will be considered. I'm gutted about having to sell her, it really has been a revelation having this bike, and I am now on the hunt for another one, although Canada is one BIG country[/b]

Rather than sell it, I'll look after it until you get back if you like, there's room in the garage.

Griff's just bought a Falco back to life that's been stood unused outside for... FOUR YEARS! It only took a bit of minimal service work and it fired up straight away, amazing! So if I make sure it's stored properly you should have no problem picking yours up when you get back.

Nooj,

that would be an outstanding idea, and I would be well up for that, but the sale will be funding my bike when I get over there, and making sure my bank accounts are all in the green when I go.

Hey Falconihlist,

If you're going to be selling off the spare parts separately, how much do you want for the carbon fibre front mud-guard? (And shipping to Oz?)

Cheers,
V
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

Now that the vultures are circling - may I suggest that you post up assorted bits on their own threads....

I suspect that you will be surprised what stuff makes

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

V, that's a bit of a risk on posting to Oz, would need a big box not to get it crushed.

Lower fairing, is just the short one that goes round the oil cooler, unfortunately not a Skidmarx full length one.

Hi Falconihlist,

I had another forum member post over an NWS rear hugger a couple of years back. It arrived safe and sound.

If you've still got the front mudguard, I'm still interested.

All I can say is $&$%&/§§/%§$&!!!!!!!!!! I have got 3/4 of the house in boxes already, removals booked for next week, and some idiot who hasn't got a clue decides to move me somewhere else. The obvious bonus is that I get the 2 wheeled panzer back:) and I get to go and work on some very new kit that isn't out yet.

Now I can get back to normal and start spending money on the bike.....
