what happened to the 'what tyres' thread
Someone started a tyres thread recently, where lots of opinions/preferences were given. Can't find the thread now.
Ready for new tyres, just want a nice selection I can go to the local bike tyre shop and find the best deal. I will be mentioning the Mitchlin Pilot sports for 130 quid. I know I will pay more at the shop, but it's so nice to just ride in, wait 30min then ride out with new tyres.

Right, don't have any preference of tyre, so I'll go with whatever I get the best price on. My current list of possabilities are:
Mitch Pilot Sports (or Pilot Power 2ct)
Pirelli Diablo (possibly strada)
Bridgestone 020
Avon Azarro
Not the fastest of riders, so don't need the stickiest, so would err on the side of wear (020 and Diable Strada would be front runners)

But in my defence, I have a few posts over in technical, and I don't remember putting them there. Have the post moving faries been a little busy
Yup.

I know youre all creatures of habit and like to stay cooped up in the falconry..

I'm on the Stradas - but the only comparison that I have on the Falco is with the MEZ3s .... against which they are fantastic.gazuk wrote:Right, don't have any preference of tyre, so I'll go with whatever I get the best price on. My current list of possabilities are:

So far I'm very happy with them.

Copied from earlier post now in Techie section.
Running Bridgestones, 020 on rear, but now matched with an 014 front. Had previously run an old VFR with 010 front 020 rear and worked well so thought I'd try it on the Falco. Well pleased so far.
Get 4,500 plus miles on a BT020 rear
and 7,500 plus miles on BT014 front, which was a pleasant surprise.
Have found this this combination is just as good as the Avon Azarro SPs, I tried a while ago, in summer, and much better in winter.
But I only got 5000 plus miles on the front Azarro
and 2,986 miles, (to totally shot) on the rear!
Intresting comparison with a big IL4 like Blackbird. My CBR1000F with less power (135bhp) and more weight than a Blackbird, gets 6500 on the front and 6600 rear with BT020s. So more miles on the rear and less on the front than the Falco.

Sounds about right! I'm up to just over 3000 miles on my Stradas and they're barely scrubbed-in (well, maybe I exagerate a bit but they are showing remarkably little wear but still have plenty of grip to inspire confidence)Goldie wrote:Std Diablos now, very good. Previously I got 8500 miles out of a Diablo Strada rear and a std front without any problems... well, the rear was starting to crack-up down the centre at about 8300, but I was 200 miles from home when I noticed![]()
