Steel on the road bike, alloy on the race bike.

Steel front, always.
Have used both on the back, but currently using anodised hardened alloy on the rear, seems to be wearing OK and looks better, plus does not rust in winter!

Yes :smt002

Unless you go for supersprox Steel AND Ally

(Though being pedantic, Steel IS an alloy .... I guess you probably mean ally = aluminium)

Steel front - always

Rear - pays your money, takes your choice.

No - you need your sprockets and chain all to be the same.

525 is standard for our bikes though there are 520 options.

If you're not certain that you really want to move everything to a 520, then stic with 525.

You have to match chain and sprockets , so a 520 pitch chain will need 520 pitch sprockets. Stick with the standard size & pitch.
Also 520 pitch is a physically lighter chain and more designed for race applications so potentially wont last as long.

I have Talon units on mine, as stated earlier, steel front and alloy rear.

The only trouble with the talon is they state it's a 520 pitch

Give them a ring - I'm pretty sure they'll have both available.
They are nice and helpful.
