There's a double sided sticky foam pad holding the mirror on that the petrol softens to get the glass off. The plastic under the miror is held in by a couple of screws, these may be the problem, so whip them out and check them and the moulding they fasten to.
The sticky pad should still be quite sticky (depending on how long its been in the petrol) and could be reused once the petrol has evaporated. Prolly need a bit of extra glue to make sure it stays put.
