OK having looked at this again, I see that I was talking b@ll@x.
The bits that Steve wanted were the same on all bikes (and I now have a spare set)
I mistook what he was describing for the duct parts that go through the frame - which are different. The ducts themselves are not different but the parts that pass through the frame and the "snorkel" that connects them to the airbox is significantly larger on the earlier bikes.
I have recently fitted the early bike parts to my bike but I honestly cant say that I noticed any real difference other than increased induction noise.
It may be that they are more free-flowing and improve performance or it may be that the apparently more restrictive later design is just as efficient but quieter. Having been reading up on exhaust and inlet technology recently I can see that it may just be that the revised design is not inferior (though I really don't know enough to pronounce on it one way or the other).

That is quite a bit of difference between the two but like you say is it enough to really make that much difference ??? .......Was looking on ebay and found a set of early scoops for sale which i'd remembered from this site that there was meant to be a difference between years ..........is it worth it ...fitting etc .....for what gain !?!?! .....Another bit of modding for nothing ......
Just fitted my 16 t back on the front sprocket ........went to a bike meet down here last night and had a good blast with someone on a Ducati 996 .......was with him round the bend at about 125mph but as soon as we hit the straight i was struggling .....got to 140 and he backed off but my baby was starting to flag then .......16t back on ...................................and yes i know it's illegal but it was FUN !!!!
