Farewell.....

#1 Post by Fausto » Mon Apr 19, 2010 2:46 pm

.....to my Falco.

I delivered it to it's new owner last week. A friend bought it so it's staying local and I'll be seeing lots of it although I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Had to let it go in the end as I haven't had the time to do it justice recently and was shocked to see how few miles I'd put on last year. I still have the DRz and am looking around vaguely for a replacement for the Falco.

Anyway thanks to you all for the help and advice and I'll be dropping in occasionally to see what's going on.

A sad day .... but glad you'll be sticking around.

please pass on our details to the new owner - so to speak

be safe paul and keep in touch :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Thanks guys.

Yes I'm not sure how I'll feel when I see it roaring past me. I have linked him to the site so he may well sign up.

And because he may well be looking in I won't say anything about the fact that he already let the battery go flat and has apparently covered it in stickers and removed the baffles :smt009

I must learn to let it go :smt003

I'll let you all know if I get anything else - been looking very closely at Cagiva Raptors recently

Ah yes....... indeed it is.

I just bought a 53 Raptor 1000. Snapdragon spotted me when I joined the Raptor Chapter. Bizarrely a mate just bought one too so one minute you never saw one and the next there are 2 buzzing round.

I will get a feel for the new beast and then borrow my old Falco and perhaps try and write up a comparison - wary of the sometime hostility between Falco and SV riders.

No hostility from Raptor riders, there's so few of us we need all the friends we can get :smt003

It wasn't quite that straightforward. I'd had the Falco 4 years and was no longer riding it enough to do it justice. I was also finding it increasingly uncomfortable on my wrists the less I rode it. So when I had an opportunity to sell it I did.

The replacement bike had to be a V twin but also a more upright riding position. I'd been looking at all sorts like Tuono, Monster, Naked SV and Raptor. It was the Raptor that I found first at the right price/condition.

Lots more comfortable on short rides (up to 100 miles) but I suspect I will be wishing I still had the Falco for longer trips. Time will tell...
