To be honest, it's something I've thought about doing again, but it won't be this year. I attended pretty much non-stop from the year Hailwood returned (1978?) up until 1994, but decided that two weeks out of my annual leave at the same place every year was just too much.
I'd really like to see the Island again, but I'm more likely to return when the racing's not on, so I can enjoy the Island without all the madness that TT week entails (I know that's half the fun, but...)
May well pop over on the Falco for a long weekend in July or August...

I'm going with a group of mates next year.
Stopping at a self catering place called Ballahowin, just outside St Marks, and about 4/5 miles from Douglas.
We stopped there in 2007 last time we went, and it is highly recommended.
The same couple have a place at Crosby called Ballavitchel.
Contact details are Tel 01624 851659.
Or enquiries@ballahowin.com

I'll be there (again) my old friend, also coming over for a few days in August to see the the Manx GP as a good friend is racing in the newcomers this year.
Unfortunatley a change of job has buggered up my holidays so I'm having to fly over for the TT just for a long weekend this year (it wont be the same but I have to get my annual fix somehow, my mate is lending me his Hypermotard to get a few laps in
)
Easyjet return to Liverpool for £56 all in...an absolute bargain. I'll be bringing the bimmer for the Manx though as the Tuono finally leaves me next week
sold it to a guy in Scotland)

I've spent 50% of my life riding motorcycles, the rest I've wasted!
Hi Rich,
It is never going to be seen the same again, for me. I have just accepted the job of heading up the motorsport team here, so my involvement in the races will be not as a spectator, marshall and enthusiast any more. Exciting times ahead. But coming to TT with no bike? Wow! I hope your fix is enough to sustain you for another year!
I am looking forward to helping make the TT/MGP and all other hosted events on the island something even more of us want to come to. Its a bit of an awesome responsibility really....

Excellent to have one of us in such a vital position - I can see that's going to come with a lot of hard work and pressure but rewarding too I think.
Unfortunately I won't make it this year (in fact I've never, ever made it). Maybe we'll have to sort out a forum event to the TT or MGP next year?

It will be hard work, but you are right, rewarding too. I have been looking for something rewarding to do for a little while and this is it.
One thing I would like to see is more opportunity at the TT and MGP for owners of different marques to meet, in a more organised way. Anyway, the idea will be to ask bikers what they want and to try and provide the experience they are looking for.
Its always good to see other Aprilias here - Falcos are a particular rarity.. we ought to do something about that.

Sounds an interesting idea...D-Rider wrote:Maybe we'll have to sort out a forum event to the TT or MGP next year?
Would anybody be up for a weekend forum visit to Mona's Isle when the races weren't on? If you've never been it's a bit less of an "in at the deep end" introduction.
It's a beautiful island in its own right, and you'd be able to get some laps of the course in without sharing the road with several thousand other maniacs...
Best times to visit, IMO are between the TT and MGP. The very best time to visit, if you don't want the TT or MGP experience is to come over when the Southern 100 is on in July. Unfortunately this is a mid week event, with the main race day on a Thursday; not sure why. Anyway, less crowds, good racing and the TT course to ride at your relative leisure.
I would be happy to help organise a forum meet here, if there was enough interest.
