I was peripherally aware of Falcos as far back as 1999 and remember reading a road test of one and thinking that it ticked all my boxes. Trouble is, at the time I was out of work and having to contemplate selling my TL1000S just to keep my head above water.

Once I got back into work it was a struggle just paying the bills, the credit card debts and keeping my ageing VFR on the road. It was only around 2007 that I permitted myself to start looking at bikes again, and that was when I re-acquainted myself with the Falco. The rest, as they say, is history...

And I have to say that the Falco is the bike the TL1000S should have been. Fine bike though the old 'Widowmaker' was, the Falco kicks its ass in every respect.

Those of us that were about in those days either owned or had a mate that owned an RD and there is that level of involvement - same with FS1e too.
The Falco has never had that breadth of acclaim and although it's a brilliant bike, I think it's just one for the connoisseurs.
I agree with this totally. Not a big seller, but people who know bikes recognize the Falco for sure. There is a guy that lives near me, always messing around with 1990's Kawi's. One day he saw me on the Falco and came up to me, just to tell me how much he liked the bike, and how Falco's were for people in the know.

When talking about a bike with large scale appeal that sold well... I'd say the Ducati Monster will probably be looked back upon quite fondly in 20 or 30 years.


As for the questions (like the last one produced and what not), if you guys want to put together a little list of similar inquiries, I can try to translate it into my average Italian. Might help get an actual response. Unless you lot have already tried...

And I'd also hazard a guess that it would have the Marzocchi forks rather than the Showas...
