Andy's right as usual, but it is an Italian thing. (with some help from the Austrians in Aprilia's case!)
Alfa Romeo have used Twin Spark engines in cars for a few years, as have Aprilia and Ducati (1000DS) for bike engines, they all burn cleaner and tend to give a bit more power, or that is what they tell us.
Who are we to argue with people who make great bikes and cars?
