Pushing the cylinders a further 30degrees apart must have been quite a challenge.joecrx wrote:real nice , i like the open look of the v90 engine
I've only ridden one bike with a featherbed frame (back in the 70s) and remember being completely underwhelmed by it.
That aprilia though, looks a very nice job.

Tremendous piece of work, the attention to detail is superb. I particularly like the rear cylinder exhaust, which wraps round the clutch housing Vincent-stylee (and Harley-stylee, but we won't mention that...)
My concern is that Featherbed-style frame; ok it's made in heavy-duty T45 tubing, and it's braced , and he's using a pro-link linkage to minimise stresses to the frame...
BUT - I bet it's still going to be a flexy-flyer...
Looks fantastic though, and full marks for doing something different. I especially like the way the radiator is mounted under the seat to give the illusion of an air-cooled engine. I seem to remember that was where the Britten had its radiator, so it's been used successfully before.

Just had another look.
Headlight suggests its for the road but I can't spot a tail lamp or number plate hanger.
Maybe it's not finished or maybe just a show bike?
The other thing is that it looks really long. Not sure if that's an illusion or just a feature of the frame design.
Still well impressed though!

I don't think it is finished yet, note also the comfy saddle.
The frame was designed for less than half the power of that motor so there might be some issues if it gets used in earnest. Also some one else noted that there is not a lot of room under the tank for an air box so there will be a compromise or two there I suspect. Looks fabulouse though, beautifully made and I think the guy has already demonstrated he is capable of ensuring it is very functional. There is a lot I like about it and the pipes definitely stand out as things of beauty. Also it shows what a shame it is that our motors are so hidden behind the frame spars and plastic pannels.

I owned a Paul Dunstall Dommie 650SS back in the, (cough..... er), late sixties, with an alloy tank clip ons and reverse cone magas etc.. It looked a lot like this one in some ways, but would have loved to try it with a V60!
Very interesting bike, bet it's a little bit quicker than your average Triton.
