Oil leak

I have not so much a leak but a weep, if out for a good couple of hundred mile run it will have a smear of oil round about the left hand side crank case, had a quick look, oil around the side of the block, looks to be coming from up high, pulled the tank up almost looks like forward most cylinder head gasket could be weeping, towards the back. has anyone else come across this, or is there anythin else up that high that could be leaking? cheers for any info!

IIRC the cam position sensor wire comes out the back of the cam cover on the front cylinder. You should be able to see it from the left side of the bike. There is a seal, but it can leak if it's not seated properlyafter the rocker cover's been off for a valve check.

Mine leaked, was indeed the cam/head cover gasket.

As Falcopops indicated the seal around the sensor wire may be the culprit. It was leaking on mine after I did a valve check. I had to refit the cover with a dab of sealant in that area.

seen the wire your talking about, no oil around that area, dont think the rocker cover has ever been off, only 7000 on her.
