Not wanting to throw a fly in the ointment or anything, but I also bought the sidestand off ebay, and it snapped on me...... twice, first time it broke from the weld at the top, second time the foot snapped off, both times due to poor welding. I'm not saying dont buy one, because it did solve the problem, but my bike has hit the deck twice, i now have the original side stand back on until i can source a replacement. Its not ideal, but I took the bracket that attaches to the bike off, put it in a vice, and gave it a little 'dunt' with a nylon mallet, managed to bend it just a little further, which has helped no end. Not a final solution, but a semi fix. :smt002

Hi and welcome Bigyin

It's not the first time we've heard of welds breaking on these ones.

I think the welds on the early ones were a little suspect, but the welds on mine, which is a MK2 version are ok. The Mk2 version also has the deployment tang thingy, relocated.

I just got one of the ebay ones the other week. Took about 10mins to stick it on. I'm no engineer but it looks very solid and well made........although I might double check it now it's been on for a couple of weeks..........
