Recommend me: A dealer to service my bike (Scotland)

#1 Post by dyzio » Mon Jun 15, 2009 1:25 pm

Hi all,
If my summer plans go ahead the bikey will be requiring a service (20k). I know this is early to ask, but if everything works out, I'll return from my trip with the service light on, and would like to have it already booked for the service.

I've just called the local Suzuku/Aprilia/Triumph dealer: quoted £500-600 :smt089

Any good places you can recommend?

Chers

Just got mine back from Cupar Motorcycles in Fife - £380 for the major service including valves, plugs, new brake fluid, coolant, etc. I think that last minor service was under £200. I've been using them for years and never had cos to doubt their ability and they score well on the Rider Power survey. You'd get a loan bike (usually an SV650), tho they've started charging 6 quid a day for them. www.cupar.co.uk

Cheers, for a full service that sounds good.
I know that place, and it has a very good rep. but forgot about it comepletly (didn't think they'd be working on Aprilias).
Another one I found was Jim Allan in Falkirk. Under £300 but just for the valve check. Dundee wasn't bad either.

Thanks

I get parts from Allans but have never used them for a service. I've always found the shop a tad disorganised and chaotic...... Couple of mates have had services done there and were happy enough tho. Who did you try in Dundee? Last time I looked I all the dealers had shut up shop - granted I haven't been back there since changed job 3 years ago!!!!!

It'll either be Skinner's or J.A.
Phoned Cupar today and was told they would prefer not to work on a Falco (difficult to get parts or something) :smt017

Strange - my bike needed a couple of extra bits for its service which they got within 24 hours.
:smt017 I need to see if they'll service mine next time round.
