There is definitely a Siamesed section of pipe on the Falco. I was checking mine out after having the welding done, and it's there. It's effectively a balance pipe between the two cylinders/pipes. It allegedly improves scavenging.

And +1 for Paddy's comments about Fuchs (eddy current) dynos vs. Dynojet ones. Dynojet dynos always give inflated readings; it's done so the happy owner can go and exercise bragging rights over his mates...

Here is a picture looking into the end of one of the pipes of the Falco's exhaust mid-section.
You will notice that the right hand side wall of the tube has a big hole in it .... where it joins to the tube from the other cylinder.

I will go dig out the pipe tomorrow and double check but am fairly sure mine are two separate pipes

I will ask a friend to do a smoke test to see what comes out of where!

(yes I have stopped smoking and no it is not worth it!)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

well, I hold my hands up and admit I am getting old

Ran some smoke through and cam from both exits - so, strong light time - and bugger me if grey beard isn't right!

so, mea culpa, the two are joined!

Yay - back of the net :smt003

So, young swamp-dweller..... you were after a 2into1into2, you went to great lengths to achieve it ..... and have now discovered that is what you had all along ................

........ or am I missing something .............

:smt005

What have I started?
:smt062
The main point I was trying to make was that at least 75% of new bikes on the road have just one exhaust outlet, so i just like to be a bit different and I personally think a twin should have TWO pipes.
Perhaps its an age thing as I was brought up on Brit twins with two pipes, however, I seem to remember there were arguments then about the benefits of siamesed exhaust systems.
As for the types of end cans, they never got a mention in my comments Andy. Anyway I only swapped to the titanium cans as a weight saving exercise, to make my bike more efficient and help save the planet. :smt002
If anybody else can remember, we had the argument about the central Falco pipes being joined or not a year or so ago, but nobody ever came back with a photo!
Andy you have too much time on your hands, get back to work!

I agree. It just looks unbalanced with only one, IMHO.

+1 :smt041 Why spend all that time and money on making your bike a bit different and then stick a single can on it like 80% of the UJM's. But then again, it's all in the eye of the beholder and if we all made the same mods we'd end up with a homogeneous yamukihonsaki UJM - wrong, so very wrong :smt009
The ride is the reason ........ the destination is just the excuse.

damn right - i would not get rid of the renegade cans :)

especially after my blast back from work - only 8 miles but i seemed to have to do a little 40 mile detour - glorious sunshine, team filth were all away filling in their forms from a heavy week end spent ticketing over dark window tints on cars
(I kid you not - i know of at least three car drivers who were pulled at the weekend...)

and I have to say I had a sublime time

How's the ribs Andy?

(I do believe that some mumbling can probably be heard from under the beard...)

but, each falco owner will go their own way in terms of choices - we would be very boring if we all did the same mods - even where things have been copied, they appear to be different!
