I'm still using my original relay - when it played up I "restored" it.

The Scooter Assassins one is often recommended by Olivier (Go-modem-go) on the AF1 forum. He's a knowledgeable chap so I've no qualms about pointing people in the same direction.
Sorry if you thought I mentioned them because I had used them.

If you are worried and want to try to recover your existing relay, you could do what I did.

1) Disconnect the lead between the relay and the starter motor either at the relay or at the starter motor (at the starter motor is probably easiest .... but please make sure the conductor cant touch anything conductive while it is disconnected or you will short out your electrics when you move on to the next stage)

2) Repeatedly press the starter button to bash the relay contacts together. I guess doing this about 20 times or so would be OK but no harm in doing more. This bashes the oxide off the contacts. You should hear it click every time you press the button.

3) Reconnect the wire to the starter motor.

Hopefully this sorts you out.
Did mine over a year ago and it's been fine ... though I think it might need doing again soon.

Still worth fitting a more reliable relay in the long run (not that I have got round to this yet)

Hope this helps.
Oh why oh why oh why did I post this up this morning.

Pressed the starter button to go to the footie this afternoon and the F-ing relay contacts welded themselves together (the opposite problem) and drained the battery before I could disconnect it.
So my relay is deceased and I too can join the queue for a replacement.

Ended up going to the footie 2-up on my son's CB125 with my other son on his scooter.
Just as well we had emergency backup I guess.

Sorry to hear about your relay D - genuinely :smt006 . My commute is only a couple of miles but I loathe pubtrans unless I'm on the lash. No backup but that for me. Hang in there. At this rate our forum should ask for a discount from Scooter Assassins :smt003 ... by the way why to people mention this chap like this "Olivier (Go-modem-go)" ?

olivier is hi real name, go modem go is his user name on the forum

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I've just flown back from Malaga today, almost the whole of central Spain is snow covered !!
The coastal mountains on the east coast of Andalucia were snow capped, then a bit of a clear area, then snow covered almost all the way to Bilbao, the news programs over there were going mad about it, showing kids out snowballing, cars skidding all over the place, (somebody should tell them about treating their roads with sand, gravel, rock salt and sugar beet shite!). Got up before 7am this morning and the outside temperature at the villa where I was staying was 2 degrees C. I was staying up in the the hills at the back of Frigiliana, but the overnight temperature in Malaga was only 3 degrees.
Drove up the road to Ronda during the day on Thursday, and it was between 2 and 3 degrees on the way back, but more on that trip later, what a road, wish it had been the Falco rather than a bloody 207 hire car.

Make sure all connectors in the path between battery and starter motor have clean contacts and those contacts are tight (including those on the battery and starter motor itself).
Also suspect the starter relay switching contacts as being oxidised.
You can get the oxide off - I did describe how I did it once - but probably the least hassle method is to replace it with one of these.

Oh yes, another thing to check is that the contacts of your brown multi-way connector are clean - if not you won't be charging properly.

Hope this helps to stop your Falco from being a figure of fun in the staff room.
... just a disclaimer about this ebayer: they are listed as UK based but source their parts overseas so delivery could take a couple of weeks (I've been waiting just on two and it's killing me). To be fair, if you read down their listing they do say '7-14 days' delivery fairly up-front, but after the plug here, and seeing the UK location at the top of their listing I clicked 'buy it now'. Worth bearing in mind - if you're wanting a very immediate replacement relay you'd be better off shopping further than these guys :smt012

My relay arrived today and I fitted it tonight (from 11pm onwards ... but was determined to get it done).
So it took only just over 1 week to get here.
Seems to work fine .... so far .....

Things to note:
1) The wiring harness connector for the coil circuit is not the same as Aprilia use - Had to chop the one off my old relay and join it to the new one with some crimp connectors.
2) The rubber mounting is different - 90 degree rotation for the mounting slots.

Apart from these unexpected delights, it seems fine.

.... Yay, I'm a biker again :smt003

....sodding thing did arrive tonight but connectors look similar (long sided pentagon) shape to my indicator connectors - not the same tho in your more technically apt opinion? My relay came postmarked from Taiwan - yours too? I won't be getting my leg over til saturday :smt009
