Hey for real, if any of you ever wanted to come to Vallelunga for a track day, let me know. I don't have much space in the way of accomodations, but I can host a few. If not, there are tons of cheap places in Rome if you know where to look (and if you go outside the city just a bit, things get dirt cheap). Anyway, the track is only about 30 minutes from the city center, and the track days are well organized and easy to do.
I would put up some pictures, but I don't have a URL for them.

Wait, let's try this...

It worked! Thanks for the photobucket advice. Anyway, that's the Falco doing its best around Vallelunga. Yep, thats a homegrown paintjob on the mudguard and side pannels... flat black and about the best I could manage. I thought it made the bike look smaller, lighter, and more agressive then the "red".

I enjoyed it more than you could imagine! I had only ever done track days on US "tracks" which are actually just oval race complexes with some improvised turns to resemble a road course. In a word, they are horrible.
My first lap around Vallelunga, the thing that struck me most was the size of the gravel traps! They looked huge... like nice sandy beaches. Surely confidence inspiring compared to the walls I was used to.
Then my first laps at speed I was screaming in my helmet like a dimented monkey. I was absolutely eating it up. I culdn't get it out of my mind for at least a week afterwards (and I'm not talking about fond memories, I'm talking about obsessively replaying events...).
Unfortunately when I went back about a month later, it rained. Probably the first rainy day in 2 months, and of course it was that same day. Fingers crossed for Nov 8th, which is when I've booked my next one.
