Re: Philips Bulb Kit for Falco
HID is an option but if you just want a spares kit to go abroad -crosstowntraffic wrote:Need to get a bulb kit today anyone know which one I need for the Falco Philips offer a H7/H1 or a H4?
Yes you need 3 x H7s, certainly worth buying upgraded bulbs, if yours are standard at the moment. You can fit the upgraded units and keep the standard units in the spares kit.
It is a bit of a job swapping them over, managed the dip OK without ripping lots of plastic off or taking the headlight out, main beams needed more surgery.
As all 3 are H7, I think you only need to take 1xH7 as a spare (maybe you should check but I don't think they expect you to have to deal with all 3 blowing at once)
If you have fitted an HID kit (like I have) I think you are still fine in taking an ordinary H7 bulb (or one of the Philips or Ozram 80% or 90% brighter equivalents). The HID kit is plug and play so in the unlikely event of the HID bulb failing, you've just got to pull out the wires to the ballast and go back to a normal H7 to get you on your way.
Just hope you don't have a bulb failure - access to the bulbs is a right b@st@rd. If you've never changed one before, the chances of managing to do this in the dark are somewhat less than zero !
(I only know from fitting my HID kit)

Don't get sucked in by all this "twice as bright" crap on the bulbs, they maybe UP TO 50% brighter, but they may also be exactly the same meaning you've just paid out extra dosh for no real improvement.
All filament bulbs deteriorate over time, so any new bulb will be brighter than an old one, don't get suckered by the marketing.

The review I've seen for them suggest that the claims are being undersold if anything - but then I've not tried a set myself yet so can't give personal experience.Nooj wrote:Don't get sucked in by all this "twice as bright" crap on the bulbs, they maybe UP TO 50% brighter, but they may also be exactly the same meaning you've just paid out extra dosh for no real improvement.

(NB The review I saw was not by the people that make them BTW)
