Anyone had any joy.....

.....selling their Aprilia on ebay?

I am having to part with my lovely Falco and wonder if I'll get a reasonable price for it on there or not :smt009

Its a 2001 bike with 16k miles on the clock. Brand new Conti road attacks, new odyssey battery and the must have improvements of yellow mille shock and sidestand mod. Apart from that the bike is absoulutely standard and in excellent condition.

Thought I would try for £2500.

I bought mine from eBay so it does work, just depends if you can handle the hassle of barmy offers from the vast amount on nobheads out there.

I also bought mine on the bay and got a bargain - so I'd say it isn't the best place to sell if you want the best price. It will generate a lot of interest though, so perhaps worth it as a shop window.

I bought mine off ebay (2002 blue one with useful extras for £2600).

Having just sold a trailer on there for a nearly 200% profit one tip I would give is to start low very low to generate interest, don't be scared because it should soon make it's way up to a reasonable price. I would also say don't put a reserve on because if I remeber correctly you can still withdraw the auction up until the 24 hour point if it is not looking like reaching a good price.

It is worth putting on a buy it now for your target price because if you get someone who has to travel a reasonable distance to look at the bike before the end of the auction (like I did), they may well want to close the deal there and then instead of travelling back a second time to collect when the auction is over.

On the whole though I think Hornetrider summed it up, you will probably not get the best price for it but you know that it will almost certainly sell, instead of hanging around waiting for a buyer to come along.

Thanks for all the tips guys.

I've stuck it on Pistonheads for the time being to see what happens. At least it isn't an auction site so people will know the kind of price I'm asking for it.

Think I will use ebay as a last resort. Good place to grab a bargain like you all said but perhaps not a good place to sell.

I'll stick it into the items for sale section here too.

Yeah - look on this as an opportunity ... the falco goes but in a while, when you just have to get another, you can choose one in one of the better colours :smt003

Go along to www.FOC-U.co.uk and stick it in the For Sale and Wanted forum, be sure to say I recommended you as some people get a bit narky if your first post is selling stuff. Falcos seem very popular with the Fazer lot so you may get some interest, especially as I was plugging them to Al a few weeks ago.
