Wanted - a definitive answer
(I have cross posted this to assorted places so excuse me if you have seen this before)
very simple question.. but what is the answer?
My falco has all the toys fitted, evo airbox, aftermarket cans, power commander 3, penile support etc
but - it has the standard chip....
I have always thought that the Power commander negated the need of changing the chip
but does it?
before I get the bike set up on the dyno - should i get a different chip?
(And if so - which one?)

mmmm
The PCIII with custom map will modify/optimise the fuelling.
For many chips it will not matter which chip you have in there to begin with - you'll end up with the same optimisation.
However .... the FP chip not only re-maps fuelling from stock but also provides some ignition advance. Therefore if you run a PCIII with an FP chip, you will still be able to optimise fuelling but will also have the ignition advance of the FP chip .... whereas PCIIIs on other chips will have standard ignition timing.
I couldn't tell you whether there are other chips out there that offer any change in ignition timing.
..... that's as I understand it anyway .....

Hi Pete,
I'm not certain but it is also my understanding that the PC will effectively overide the fuelling map supplied by the chip.
The chip may also have some control of the advance curve etc. which I don't think the PC controls.
I'd have thought a good dyno shop would not only give you BHP but also would be able to provide indication of whether you were running a suitable mixture and ignition advance.
It's a 'Black' art really so thats another reason why............

Ignition advance?? No idea. However, I was under the impression that the PCIII USB (or maybe an add-on for it) could alter this?? But to go over what's been said already... A PCIII sits between the chip and the engine, if the chip is sending out good info for your engine and related hardware set up (all determined in the initial Dyno run), the PCIII will let it get on with it. But if the chip isn't sending out the best info to your engine, once programmed, the PCIII will step in with it's custom map and 'fill in the gaps' if you like.

Dynojet have introduced an ignition module BUT they don't have one for the Falco, Mille or TuonoNooj wrote:Ignition advance?? No idea.
