Are you thinking it might save you lugging that petrol can around ? You being from winsford and all you know a bit of accelerant on tap so to speak

Hey guys, did we get an answer to this one when Rich checked the volume the other day?

Not quite sure what you mean but as the extra capacity comes from the tank wall thickness being dramatically thinner, the inner volume increases wherever there is a tank wall. In a particular area in which there are more tank walls , the increase will be proportionally greater in that part.

Yep, kinda my point. We will get proportionally more reserve. Maybe not strictly proportional, but it won't be an extra 5 litres reserve, more like 1 litre

Be honest if you can't set fire to something with 21 litres of accelerant no wonder they kicked you out of winsford

Swollen Tank / Carbon Tank.

#51 Post by azureape » Thu Jul 21, 2016 1:30 pm

Hello All, it's been a while since I have been on here but did anyone ever go for the Carbon fuel tank? Was about to take my bird for the annual MOT today. Strong smell of fuel. Investigation located fuel seeping from the joint at the bottom of the fuel tank around the pipes. Hope it's not terminal.
Just wondered if anyone went for the replacement how they got on?

OOOPS! missed the post by morepower. Nice looking piece of kit. If I cannot find a remedy for my leaking tank then this looks like the way to go.

If it's from the seal around the pump, then it's fixable - mine did the same a long time ago

There is a type of instant gasket - ?red - that is not affected my petrol - you need that. You also need to very carefully remove the original gasket and clean out the retaining lip using a soft tool - I used a wooden spatula

Then use a very thin bead of instant gasket then the original rubber one - then reassemble

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
