hi all, I noticed one of by front discs had quite a lot of play on the rotor and discovered one of the petal shaped washers/clips on the bobbin on the inner face was missing. All the others are moving freely. There is no pulsing or vibration when braking so the rotors and carriers are true.
So,
A) should i worry about it ?
B) is it easy to replace the bobbins and refit the rotors to the carriers
C) Do I need a special tool to remove the old bobbins and fit new ones.
Thanks in advance of your collective wisdom

I'd be looking for new rotors - but that's just me.
Take it round to a bike mechanic (Griff?) and get their expert opinion. Brakes are one of those things you don't want to f**k up...
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

Well a part has fallen off so that's cause for concern'
I agree with Viking, brakes are something you don't want to fuck up,and an expert opinion is needed

I know the blackshadow bobbins fit the brembos but I think the SunStar are larger so it depends what you've already got.
Side to side play is fine. Forward / back rotation is not so good and would mean the carriers are worn out and you should probably get new discs.
Some people (including me at one point) flatten out / remove the petal springs completely for full floating discs. I guess having one missing might risk warping the disc due to uneven sideways pressure so replacing the whole lot would be best. They're very easy to replace. Just grind off the inside face of the bobbins until they fall out. The black shadow ones then clip in.
But before you refurb them check you've still got plenty of life left in the rotors (minimum 4.5mm) and the wear is even (at least within 0.1mm) all the way around otherwise you might as well replace them.

All falco came with brembo disks as far as I am aware. Aprilia started using sinstar on later rsv models.
Some side play is okay, excessive is not. I've seen videos on the AP facebook page of excesdive play and it looks scary as hell.

Thanks all. Confirms my view. I've ordered a set of Viper wavey discs. I'll put them on my Oz wheels and get the Brembo disc repaired and fit back on the oem wheels.
