Starter Motor Brush Set...
Hi all,
My starter wasn't spinning quick as usual, didn't want to screw my sprag, so got a new unit. Old one was stripped and one brush was alot shorter than the rest, plus the commutator was black and excessive carbon in there. New one spins like a pikeys merry-go-round! Going to keep original unit and replace the bushes. Anyone know where l cansource said brush kit? Have tried goggle and fleebay, no joy. Prefer to buy from here in the UK, as oppose to china/taiwan/hong kong, grease local businesses so too speak. Although, who am l kidding probably made in taiwan anyways...

My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!
Might be worth your while going to a local firm who specialise in domestic appliance repairs with your brushes and compare them with their stock. There's one on the Tyne Tunnel industrial estate I used last year and he has dozens for washing machine motors etc.
Also, if they don't quite fit they're easy to file down to size.

North side but the tunnel's free on your bike
I think it was Northumbria Technical Services I used but there's loads of similar companies out there if you Google.
You might hit lucky with a one man appliance repair shop although they're becoming increasingly rare. There used to be one on Hylton Road but its a while since I was around there.

Greg, if you find out the size of the brushes, post-up the dimensions. There are thousands of brushes on ebay (no not brooms - though probably a lot of them too) and it'd make sourcing them easy for whoever needs them next.

Brushes...
Hi all,
Brushes are 8.8mm width, 5.6mm depth, and length is the unknown as l don't know what they are new. My worn one was 9mm, the rest were around 10-11mm.
tried sourcing through the reference number on the body. No joy as yet, number is: 228000-7460. If anyone interested

I think the starter is a DENSO part Greg .... and although that's the company I work for, it's not going to help in the slightest as it's impossible to get hold of parts or even information .....
