Now this is perfectly fine when out on the open road where the revs are kept higher that, but through town (i commute every day) its not the best. I've already gone -1 on the front sprocket.
Not sure i would describe the acceleration as brutal (if i pin the throttle it the front will not lift, ever, in any gear), but then again, I don't have anything to compare it to, not even the stock chip.
Get yourself a Gabro chip - it transforms this low-revs commuting range.
I concur.
The Forza Aprilia chip is pretty damn good, as well. I've only ridden the red Falco about 10-15 miles on that, but it was a weird mixture of smooth, civilised and effortlessly fast...

Hi Dale, sounds like something is not set up correctly on yours, yes I found lower rpm tickover an issue (sub 3k and variable as to good and bad
With the SL eprom and some spirited riding Iv'e had the front wheel lift at over 90 changing up to 3rd,, on the dis used airfield.
This is not a boast as I pooped myself, Im not a stunt rider at all !
I do recall with the SL my trimpots were set (L) just before 12, (R) 5 past 12.
These settings didnt work with the Forza or Gabro.
The unpredictability of the SL made be buy a Forza

Dalemac - Had a SL chip with the cans and Evo air box for quite a while with both 16 and 15 tooth front sprockets, before moving on to the Gabro chip. From what you say your bike seems down on power and generally not as it should be. I was also doing a fair bit of stop go commuting into the center of Leicester at the time. I found the SL chip pretty good just a bit off and on at low throttle low revs, manageable but not the smoothest of transitions. Not that I deliberately attempt the first two, it'd wheely in first and second no problems and only requiring a small crest to leave the deck for a bit in third. The Gabro chip smoothed out the low speed pick up without loosing anything in the mid range or top end.
Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today

Are these the trim pots on the ECU? I have to say, i have never opened up the box so no idea how they are set. Might rip it open this weekend and take a look now, i'm intrigued.

Dale, you wont need to take the lid off the ecu, there are 2 small circular adjustment holes accessible with the box unplugged.
Most chips work with both set at 12o'clock but not the SL,( not mine anyway) try very small adjustments, trial and error...?
Maybe stuff on AF1 ?
Again, sorry you're not getting the best out of the SL but when all is well the front lofts frighteningly easily
