Why can I still only see my elbows?

#1 Post by gramey » Sun Dec 28, 2014 9:28 pm

Some time ago I bought a pair of mirrors with the longer stalks but no matter how I try I still can't see much further than my elbows. Does anybody know if these can be spaced out further please? :(

You have a wingspan like an albatross??

Don't worry a sensible answer will be along shortly :)
Don't see why they would need spacing though kind of defeats the object ? But then I can see past my stubby arms with the standard ones
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

I don't have a particularly large wingspan, don't think I ride in a weird position either but perhaps I do :)

hi graham

are you certain that you did get the extended mirrors?

reason why i ask is i bought a replacement, the seller swore blind they were the longer ones - nope..... just double check!

I would be tempted to ring them and ask.

These look like the right ones, but when I rang and checked they were not listed correctly with the pictures.

The RS 125 is the only one that I know of with the long arms?

But as you see in the description it lists more than one bike , which if you looked at this when buying may be the problem.

Give them a ring, they will know what you are talking about. They take card payment over the phone :smt002

Hi Pete & Blinkey these are the ones I bought -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/APRILIA-RS125 ... 2a4449dcc3

Which it states are 25mm longer?

It appears to be more that I can't tilt them up far enough due to the button head mirror mounting bolt at the front. I don't have particularly long arms but I'm quite long in the back compared to my short little legs :)

As blinkey says, give them a ring and make sure you have got what was advertised, I have the RS 125 mirrors and compared to standard, you can see loads.
No more outward/upward adjustment left?
Sorry but I'm not going out with a torch and tape measure now, a day working in minus temps, the fire is roaring and I'm having a beer, will not have time to measure/compare mirror arm length till Sunday

That listing is for the correct mirror you want.

But like I said there was a difference with the listing to the pictures to when I rang.

I will offer a standard mirror up to a long arm one and take a picture and post the differences up tomorrow

There's about an inch difference to the outside edge.
I'm a wide shouldered fat bastard.
If you get the right ones the difference is night and day.
I've got one on the standard fitting kit and one with the aftermarket bits that came with the mirrors. Slight difference with the OE part being a bit better but the mirrors should be plenty usable with either.

Well the mirrors I bought as per the listing I posted were definitely longer than the ones that came off, as said by about 25mm. I'll have to have another look as to why they don't seem to adjust to where I like them.
Not a huge problem at the moment as the bikes not going far in this weather.

Step out of your comfort zone when adjusting the mirrors,a fair bit more outward movement needed took me a while to set mine up,seemed to defy logic.
Make sure to use the new fitting kit
