Update.... had the tank completely off on Saturday and removed the fuel pump for a nosey around. I also split the out wiring sheaths and inspected all the wiring associated with the fuel pump. Everything looked absolutely fine. I read the AF1 threads and am reluctant to "dig out" the potting compound in the fuel pump base to check if the problem is in there. I reassembled and used a couple of small cable cable ties to ensure there is no free play or movement as the wires enter the base of the pump.

Took her out yesterday and gave her a good beating, including some slow riding in traffic, left her running on the drive, switched off and on many times...... and she was fine.

So we'll see how she goes over the next few months. I hate these intermittent problems!

PS.. I was a bit nervous about removing the fuel pump as I expected it to be seated on some kind of magic sealing compound but it seems it's just a rubber gasket. Very pleased when she started up first time after re-assembly.

I know this is tempting fate but she been running very well. I went to the Barton Bike night a couple of weeks ago and the traffic was so bad we were crawling along for ages with the fans kicking in and out all the time as the engine got hotter. I half expected her to cut out but she was fine, and has been ever since.

Also - after some correspondence with Gabro I have now fitted one of his chips and, although not had a full road test yet, she is running very smoothly. Thanks Gab - a true Gent.
