When sprockets go bad...
to the tune of "Why My Falco Gently Weeps"
2003 RSV engine going in next week. I guess that means I'll have to start changing the oil rather than just topping it up *sigh*.
Shoddy fitment before Bigun took ownership many yonks ago lead to this potentially fatal incident at some 50mph. Makes you think...

Close escape!
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

ooooh that doesn't look good.
I think it was bigun who had similar damage and managed a repair. Worth a search. (it might have been on the old ARS - so if you don't find it on here, try searching the archived forum)

This is the same bike several owners later!
Bigun p/exd with full disclosure I assume that the dealership and all subsequent owners "forgot" to mention this fairly catastrophic damage when selling on - it's leaked oil ever since I've had it but it's not something you notice in that spellbound moment of saying "I'll take it".
Having said that... does anyone want to buy a fairly scabby 2002 Falco engine with 52k on it?

Yes, at 70mph on the outside lane of the A1 in Newcastle at rush hour it was certainly an alarming moment! It'll be great with a new engine in, I hope it goes well!
