Renegade airkit, couple of questions

#1 Post by Shetland Woody » Mon Sep 09, 2013 9:12 pm

Hi guys, I am in the middle of fitting my new to me kit. Firstly the oil breather pipe is too short to reach where the oil breather now sits, it also lands slap bang on where the fast idle cable mounts to the throttle bodies, so do you simply get a longer pipe and swing the cable end thingy to the side to clear the pipe?.

Secondly there were no O rings around the base of the velocity stacks so I robbed the ones out of the original airbox but there's no way they can work with the kit "I think" so do you just trust the (seal) the kit makes to the head of the throttle bodies?

Thirdly do you need to remove the insulation from the base of the fuel tank? It doesn't appear to be in the way.
you can see where the oil breather pipe wants to sit and it should now be on the white stub below the oil breather filter.
Basically has anyone who has fitted one of these come against these little niggles

I lengthened the breather pipe on mine. It's now located in the void under the rider's seat.

I also went through the same loop as you on the O-rings .... until I found out that you don't use them with the Rene kit.

I've not removed the under-tank insulation.

theres a front air duct thing from the original airbox that can be left or removed the difference being the temperature of the air coming through you don't use o rings and the oil brather has a couple of solutions can be connected to the silver filyter paddy has his ppointing down I think and what andy said

Basically these things are there to allow all the air through so te plate just seals everything and the filter is just that the minimum required nect to not having one may be oversimplified but ... :smt002 oh and it works better if whe you open it up for the first time you scream lets make some noise and grin ... a lot :smt003
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

:smt001 cool, going to get a longer hose and connect up the breather where it is, and can't wait to unplug the original restriction wire to put her into the second map on the gabro chip :smt001

It's noisy all right :smt003 :smt003 I'm sure it gets loud then when you snap the throttle back and change up and throttle on again its gets even louder.
I love it.
Well worth getting soaked in the rain on the way to work for :smt003

That induction roar is addictive.....

She feels a lot more peppier. I don't know if the chip actually makes her produce more power or just makes things work together properly but she feels so much more responsive. And I'm loving that roar, its as loud at the front as it is at the back :smt003 "we'll almost"
