Rear sprocket nuts

#1 Post by fatboy » Sun Aug 25, 2013 6:27 pm

After lubing up the chain today, cleaning the excess off the sprocket carrier I noticed 4 of the 5 nuts were loose....
Is this the cause of my harsh vibey transmision feeling Ive had for 2 months now?
Everything on the clutch side is good

Almost certainly

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

This happened to me (one of the studs snapped too) the movement ovaled out the holes in the carrier and buggered the bearing. Be worth pulling it off to check it.

While your at it check the bolts that holds the cush drive casting to the wheel too. There have been known to have worked loose too, but rarely.

Make that 5 out of 5 loose nuts.
Weird as i used thread lock when I fitted the sprocket, but, I didnt use a torque wrench.
Did today though, cleaned the studs with sovent, thread locking compound and 50nm torque, see how it is tomorrow.
Cush drive felt solid F Pops !

Glad you found it before it hailed somethings more catastrophic for either yourself or the bike. Sounds like that was the problem.
