Clutch problem, a different one

#1 Post by plasticpig72 » Wed Aug 07, 2013 6:47 pm

Before I ask this question know that I am already cringing at what the answer may be.

Since removing the clutch slave cylinder to check the seal out on that the clutch pushrod shaft seal is now leaking. Can this be changed without removing the engine and striping it to pieces. If the answer is no then she will have to be sold.

I am almost breathing a huge sigh of relief. Can it come out with the pushrod shaft still in (cause i don't fancy stripping the clutch down either), if so what would you use to get it out. I imagine drifting it back in with some sealant isn't too difficult so long as you don't go too far in.

Oh, and before anyone says, I know it was my fault, because i tightened the clutch slave back up, forgetting to put the space on first.

Simply remove the slave, lever out the old seal, tap the new one in, no clutch strip down required !
Isnt it bloody good to give a nice easy answer for a change !

Try a small screwdriver or similar, the pics im my manual show a screwdriver levering seal out, a socket used to drift new one in,just make sure the new seal goes in nice and true ( square )
1 out of 10 on the difficult factor !
You wont need sealant

Is there a lip or anything that will prevent me pushing the new one in too far?

Yeah, it'll stop once its home.

Buy the seal from a local supplier or online. I replaced this exact seam for less than £4 inc delivery a few weeks ago.

Clutch slave seal replaced, all good.
Clutch oil jet replaced with .40 jet ........I've found neutral..............with ease
Clutch pushrod seal replace - not so simple, scored pushrod whilst trying to get old seal out, so ended up taking out via clutch. seems ok now.
Oil and filter change done.
