Bloody hell, what next ?

#1 Post by fatboy » Sat Jul 27, 2013 3:14 pm

Tried to fit new clutch plates last w/end, all the harshness went but the clutch slipped like hell over 2500rpm, the height of the assembled stack of new frictions was to great so the final plain plate was proud of the hub.
I bought new springs and a torque wrench to eliminate any guesswork, put a mix of old and new frictions in to achieve the correct height, new spings in, start to torque down....
a fucking bolt shears before reaching the torque setting ( 11nm ) :smt013
why does my falco hate me ?

Surprisingly, the clutch works with only 5 rather than 6 springs !, very slight drag when cold but not at all raggedy as I feared.
Note of caution, 11 nm of torque does seem too much forthose tiny bolts ( M5 ? ), pinch tight then 1/4 turn is more than tight enough to pass the triple figure test

With only 5 of the 6 bolts, aren't you getting alot of vibration from imbalance? Would sort it asap...

No vibration at all, I was expecting the clutch to feel rough but its smooth but not entirely right.
Once again waiting for payday and parts
