Fasteners/bolts

#1 Post by PH1969 » Fri Mar 29, 2013 7:12 pm

Where is the best place to get replacement bolts/fasteners. I'm talking specifically about front spindle retention bolts and caliper bolts.

I just replaced my caliper mounting bolts and spindle nut. I polished up the pinch bolts with my Dremel rather than replacing them.

I ordered them from Forza Italian over the phone and they posted them out to me. They're a great company to deal with.

I went for OEM replacements because I think they look better than generic stainless or titanium stuff. I also replaced the disc mounting bolts. My front end looks like new again.

I have ordered a zinc plating kit, I plan to try and refurbish various parts on the bike, the engine fasteners are yellow passivated to begin with, mine still look good but the Caliper bolts are getting a little rusty which brings the looks down. I want to keep a more factory fresh look rather than replacing with stainless, I'll post up how I get on.
Perhaps in the future I could do parts for others.

Sounds interesting ..... keep us posted as you play with this - it'd be good to see how this goes

I certainly will, once it arrives and is set up. I'll be taking before and after pics. I have plenty of other parts to practice on first. :smt001 : :smt023

I used pro bolt sprocket nuts on my ZRX 1200.
When I changed the chain and sprockets,I found 2 of the nuts had cracked.
Never again

Thanks for the replies. I would never use anything from probolt and I will go for standard OE fittings.

Ally(and no they weren't tightened to much) I checked them after the first run out as I always do with new nuts and bolts, and they were fine. It was 3 months later that I discovered them.

Pro bolt are very expensive !
Bolt me up have a massive range of S/S fasteners but you will need to know length/thread type when ordering, alas, they do not do stuff like wheel nuts.
I prefer S/S, its fit and forget, indestructable !
Ally is only worth it if you're racing
