Made a first attemp at making some smoked indicator lenses today.
Bit bubbly to say the least but the shape is there. Going to have another go tomorrow pulling a vacuum on it to suck out the bubbles before it sets.

i think you may well have a good market for these when you are all sorted.....
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Why?

I need to get myself a decent set made before anyone else is allowed some. I've been told that I will only get about a dozen made before the mould is shot anyway, the first one is definitely no good. I think it's a combination of moisture and no vacuum that is causing the bubbling, I'll fire off another one tonight under vacuum and let you all know how it turns out.
If the vacuum one comes out alright and a few folk want them I may make a bigger former to make a few at a time as with this tool I can only mould 1 a day and it takes a week and a half to make a new tool. I should be able to get a few sets made but it will only be a limited number.
Getting ahead of things anyway, gotta make a 4 decent ones first for myself.

What size are they?
To me they look about the same size/shape as 4 pint milk bottle tops.
I hate it when people ask if you have a bathroom, I want to say "No we pee in the garden"

It's not gone well, even with a vacuum they're coming out like an aero bar. I'm going to try one tomorrow without any dye just to see, but after just 3 attempts the thin edges of the mould are breaking down. I might experiment with some different resins next week to find a less bubbly one.

bear in mind that I have no idea of the process but in cake baking the method of pouring can introduce unwanted air as can the mixing method any chance of somethig similar happening or a reaction between the dye and resin?
