Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.

and the feedback seems ok but...

There was a discussion on AF1 Futura forum about these, or similar Chinese discs a while back - consensus was, wouldn't touch them with a barge-pole. That may be unfair - my Chinese rip-off Pazzo levers have been fine, so far. Main concerns were about quality control, & quality of the materials.

Two disks for 130 quid sounds to good to be true, but with import tax which i don't think you will get away with will bump the price up but.....
For 200 quid you will get a rear disk that matches and all the tax is paid so no nasty surprises....

Oh yes and i think one or two of our members have dealt with this company :smt017

Most things these days are made in China and a lot of the steel used in the UK comes from China. So they could be fine. I'd always prefer to support UK manufacturing though :smt002

I think the proper Sunstar disks I bought weren't much different in price TBH - for things like brakes I'd sooner stick with a make with a known reputation (of the good variety)

Chinese steel can be of hugely variable quality. It's easy to forget that until a comparatively short time ago, British Steel was the absolute benchmark. Until the industry went (for the most part) down the tubes, that is. Chinese discs will be cheaper, but they won't be better and they probably won't be as good. Would you risk it on the second most important component on your bike? (The tyres being the first...)

Check out the Blackshadow disks, I have just bought a set , spoke with the guy who owns the company before ordering, all components are made in the UK.
£179 a pair for a falco.

Personally for the money I thought they were worth a punt and its supporting UK business and if you do have a problem, you can speak to someone.

You can sometimes pick up Sunstar disks at a good price (I did). Aprilia fit both Sunstar and Brembo as OE items - many say the Sunstars are the better disks.

Sunstar own the "Braking" brand as well as producing disks in their own name.

Crikey - have they invented slate disks? Are they better than carbon?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Chinese discs

#15 Post by moggyvan » Mon Oct 01, 2012 2:17 pm

Yep I bought a set of the wavey discs some time ago. Very good stopping power in all conditions and seem well cut.....
BUT-the rear disc had countersunk holes for the fixing bolts so was no good- could be spotfaced I suppose but haven't tried yet. Besides contact was good with the sellers and I got a refund on the rear disc plus I got to keep it.
Bought a British made replacement rear wavey for around £30 which again was very well made. (company in Sheffield).
The Chinese discs are around 0.8mm thinner than standard too but i've had no issues at all with the fronts. Hope this helps. (look around and buy British?) :smt002
