A funny thing happened today..

You'll have to forgive me, Sometimes I have very proud British moments..
Whilst changing my computer wallpaper today, I happened upon a picture I had on my hard drive.
"Ah yes" thought I, clicking to select it.
I sat there for a moment looking at the new wallpaper on the screen, imagining what it mustve been like.
Eventually I started faintly hearing the sound of Spitfires cruising along.
"Eh?!" (thought me) "My mind must really be going overtime. Naah.. Cant be!"
I decided to go outside into the back garden and clear my head. I must be going daft, too long sat on the pooter.
Well blow me if there up in the Sky, punching out of a cloud, werent two Spitfires flying in close formation! (No doubt heading for Duxford)
Brought a tear to my eye, so it did!
I really should visit Duxford. Lived in Cambridgeshire on and off for Years and still havent visited the place!

not sure what month but go to the flying legends, when they all go up together at the end your whole body shivers.

I keep passing Duxford enroute "darn sarth" on the M11 and will definately have to make time for a visit.
We occasionally get the formation of a Hurricane, Spitfire & Lancaster overhead enroute somewhere
Like faf says, makes the hairs on your neck stand up and sends shivers through your body.
What a sight and what a sound!

I used to have sound snips of both a Spitfire fly by and an Me109 fly by. I downloaded them ages ago. Lost them in a crash and now can't find them again. Anybody know of any? Found a few inferior recordings but those 2 used to shake the window when turned up loud.
I know this will be seen as sacriledge but I preferred the Me109 sound. It had that little extra - a whistle from I guess the supercharger (or something).
BTW - please note my new status and show suitable respect

Indeedy! Although all falconeers have to promise to enter Duxford on tickover. Would hate to cause a scramble, it'd sound like a flight of ME109's coming in for a strafing run!

Woo Hoo.. I like that.
Not so good on the sound though

Ah yes - that's more like the sound. Just a shame it's ruined by a commentator.
I'll have to look harder. They were audio only clips and I believe from a German site ?

checked the BBMF website, theyve got the Lanc visiting the Show over those dates.
RAF Marham (Norfolk) will however be getting the full ish! The Lanc, Spit and Hurricane (only one of the Spits) on the 26th July, as will Lowestoft.

What were the Ratatattle provisional dates, Sam?

Funny you should mention that. This was from an earlier Ratatattle Thread in the archive.

It was glorious on the Sunday too Burty, a spitfire flew over low in clear blue skies on the way to a fly-past at an Arnhem commemoration on the coast that day.Sounded great.
